Latest Javelin drivers and firmware

Further to the announcement made last month of improved Javelin J110i and J120i drivers and firmware to enhance the sharpness and the colour of the printed image, a further significant update to the printers' firmware is required to prevent intermittent ribbon recognition issues. The following chart shows the printer model, and the latest driver and firmware combinations:

The latest drivers and firmware may be downloaded from the NBS web site

Recommended action

All new Javelin J110i and J120i shipped by NBS from today's date will have the new firmware installed, and will be provided with the latest versions of the driver on CD. It is essential that all printers installed in the field now be upgraded with the latest versions of the driver and firmware, as noted above.

Failure to install the new driver and firmware may result in the printer - at sometime during its life - no longer recognizing Javelin-encoded ribbon cartridges. If this occurs, then the printer will have then to be returned to NBS for a factory-installed-upgrade.

In a limited number of cases, the driver and firmware upgrade may result in darker prints. To adjust for lighter prints, the following steps are recommended:

A. Change the printer head settings of the new driver.

B. If Step A does not result in the preferred print, then adjust the print head resistance.

Instructions for Steps A and B are provided in the Procedures section below.
